This luxurious castle is over 500 years old.  Built by the Babes, a Norman family, during the 15th century,  it is the site of a long and rich history.  It is now a private residence, comfortable, lovely and welcoming.

It has been fully renovated - actually reclaimed - from the derelict it had been.  The restoration preserves some of the castle's fine medieval features including a fortified stone
tower which remains the central element of the castle.

Sophisticated lighting, heating and plumbing systems were installed and the whole castle was refitted and redecorated to the highest international standards.  Now you can savour the elegance and beauty of a bygone age and enjoy all the pleasures and comforts of modern living.

Set in 50 acres of fine parkland in eastern Ireland, just north of Dublin, it provides the ultimate in comfort and graciousness.
 

The main floor has a large drawing room with a black marble fireplace, tasteful, comfortable furnishings, decorative ceilings and tall windows that look out to the lovely grounds.

The baronial style dining room has a barrel vaulted ceiling and attractive fireplace.  The room seats 20.  The decor is formal, but it is not stuffy or intimidating.
 

There are two kitchens, both large and luxuriously equipped.  One is perfect for large-scale cooking while the other is a bit more intimate.

Up the tower staircase, in the west wing, there is a large family room.

The bedrooms have en suite or private bathrooms, three of them with jacuzzis.  All have showers and instant hot water.  Thick towels hang from heated towel racks.

Fitted into one of the castle towers is a Swedish-style sauna.

The castle is surrounded by mature trees, extensive lawns and gardens.  The location is perfect for touring Ireland's east coast, including the Cooley Peninsula, Mountains of  Mourne, the Boyne Valley and Newgrange.  Golfing, hill walking, horse riding, cycling, sailing and fishing are available in the area.   There are many fine restaurants and traditional pubs within an easy drive.
