Watermill Cottage is very terrific.  It is separate from the manor house, down a little lane that leads to the lake and the watermill ruin.  Built in 1760 and renovated in 2000, it is has a small private garden and a patio with a wonderful views of the lake.   This cottage is large, comfortable and sophisticated.  A bit removed from the manor house and the other cottages, the Watermill feels private and secluded.
 

To the right of the entrance is a dining room with an antique oval table which seats 8.  Behind the dining room is a small single bedroom and bathroom with a shower.

A door to the left of the entry leads to the comfortable sitting room with large inglenook fireplace, stylish furniture, nice art and appointments.

Through the sitting room, the kitchen has a Belfast sink, oven, hob, refrigerator-freezer and microwave.  A seating area at one end of the kitchen joins it with the conservatory/dining area where a farmhouse table seats 10.  This is a very nice room, functional, pretty, light and comfortable.

Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms.  One room has an antique double iron bed and views of the lake.  Another room has a standard double bed, large wardrobe and hand basin.  The third bedroom has a double bed and two fitted cupboards.  All of the rooms have simple furnishings and a very nice atmosphere.  The hallway bathroom has a clawfoot tub and shower.

Narrow stairs lead to the attic level's bedroom that has a double and a single bed.  The  bathroom has a long tub with center-positioned hand-held shower.  Dormer windows overlook the gardens.
 

The gardens are beautiful.  There are many specimen trees and plants and deep borders that change with the seasons.  The lake is home to swans, heron, ducks,  geese and other waterfowl.  There is a dovecote and a Doomsday watermill dating from 1086.  The village church, with its ancient graveyard, is next door.
 

The outdoor pool, heated in July and August, is open during daylight hours with a quiet time set aside each mid-day for elderly or "shy" guests to enjoy the pool in relative quiet.  There is an all-weather tennis court, croquet, table tennis and a billiard room (adults only, please).
 

GARDEN STUDIO  is accessible to travelers with  moderate mobility limitations.  It will accommodate a small wheelchair.  All of the other cottages are accessible to those who can manage stairs.  The level paths are loose gravel.
