is a terrific 100-year old house on a tree-lined residential street
just
a short walk from Eyre Square. It’s a semi-attached property
which
means that it’s attached to another house. It's set at the back
of
the property and has its own driveway and entrance and a private garden
- it's as you see in the photo. |

Walk
through the garden to the welcoming blue door and step into a little
vestibule
that has a window overlooking the garden, then step into the wide
entrance
hall. The hall has a leather wing chair, a reception table, green
walls, stairs to the upper level. |

On the right, there is a very large formal dining room in several shades of coral. The table seats 10. There is a fireplace and a large dresser that displays pottery and dishes. Large windows and a French door that open onto a large patio and the garden. There is a smaller dining area next to the fromal dining room and immediately adjacent to the kitchen. It has an oval table for 8, a fireplace and a comfortable rocking chair. It’s a cozy alternative to the formal dining room.

The
compact galley kitchen is fully equipped. There is a counter and
some stools that are just the right perch for a quick snack (or for
helping
the cook in your group). An adjacent utility room holds the
washer
and dryer. A door leads out to the patio and garden. |

Off the entry hall, there are two sitting rooms. We call one the “Hydrangea Room” as the wallpaper is festooned with blue and rose colored flowers, very soft and warm. The room has a green leather button sofa, easy chairs, a writing desk, wide-planked wood floor, a nice fireplace.
The other sitting room is sunshine yellow. It has a yellow rug over old pine floors, a fireplace, a green sofa, an upholstered window seat that looks out to the garden.
Upstairs,
there
are four bedrooms.

One
is a pretty flowered room that overlooks the large green yard. It
has a king bed, pine furniture, a bay window. The coral-painted
en
suite bathroom has a claw-foot bathtub and a separate shower
stall.
A small dressing room is between the bedroom and the bathroom.

The
second room has white iron and brass twin beds, antique furniture, a
decorative
fireplace. The en suite bathroom has a long deep tub with shower
over tub.

The third room is the smallest room, but it is very nice. It has a standard double brass bed, built-in cupboards and antique furniture. The en suite bathroom has a shower stall.

You walk up slightly steep stairs to the fourth bedroom. It has a standard double brass bed, antique furniture. The large, white en suite bathroom has a long, deep tub and shower over tub. The
house is a 15-minute walk from Eyre Square, in the original part of
Galway
City. |
