There is something
about this amazing property that
continues to have a hold on us. In a magnificent setting of
mountains, lake, woodland and lawns, it's still only eleven miles from
Galway City. It belongs to another era; it is haunting. We
think you'll agree. |
No expense has been spared in the reclamation and refurbishing of this fine Georgian mansion. The carpets, rugs and furniture, the light fixtures (two magnificent Waterford chandeliers) are all things of great beauty. The atmosphere is gracious and welcoming.

The house is filled with the owners personalities and superb taste. It has large, elegant public rooms including a fine and comfortable library with wood paneling and a fireplace. The drawing room
contains two grand pianos, a fine
fireplace, richly colored rugs over wide-planked floors. The fine
furniture is arranged in conversation groupings. Colors are
mainly reds, greens and blues complemented by white woodwork. The
views from the drawing room, lawns, lake, trees, mountains, are like
paintings. |

The large, red,
elegant dining room seats 10 or
more. The fireplace mantle is an ancient engraved marriage stone.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are large, beautifully furnished and all have fabuous views. All of these bedrooms are personal to the owners and reflect the years they have lived in this house, raising their children in this graceful environment. A smallish en suite double bedroom is up the back stairway. Once the governess' room, it is not grand, but it's very comfortable and has been furnished with care. |

A room with twin beds is still used occasionally by the youngest daughter. Though she's now an adult, the room is reminiscent of her younger years: children's books, games and stuffed animals are all displayed. Perhaps you kknow someone who would love to have this room. The en suite bathroom has a tub with hand-held shower. Across the hall, the very large master bedroom has a king-sized bed, a fireplace, a dressing room and a seating area in front of the windows. From this vantage point, the views are astounding. The en suite bathroom is gigantic. |

The manor house is not a self-catering rental. It is fully staffed. Daily cleaning, breakfast and dinner for up to 10 guests are included in the rental price (6 dinners per weekly rental). Children under 18 are accepted in the manor house only by prior arrangement.
There is an indoor pool, a snooker room, a games room and a tennis court that can be used by guests in the manor house, cottages and apartments at pre-arranged times. Mrs. Marshall's apartment, accessed directly from the manor house, can be rented with the manor house, if available, at an additonal weekly rate.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE:

Manor House is accessible to travelers who can manage interior stairs
that have a sturdy handrail.

THE
MANOR APARTMENTS:

These
four apartments, once the servant quarters, are in a wing of the manor
house. The apartments are interconnected, but the doors can be
securely locked for complete privacy. They are comfortable
and beautifully designed and decorated. Children are warmly welcomes at
the apartments. |

Note: Mrs. Marshall's can be accessed directly from the manor house. It can be rented with the manor house, if available, at the weekly rate of the apartment. Other apartments cannot be rented along with the manor house.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE:
Some of the
apartments are on one level and have no stairs into the apartment nor
once inside.

THE
COTTAGES: Catherine's Cottage - 3 en suite bedrooms St. George's Cottage - 6 en suite bedrooms Both of
these cottages are beautifully designed and furnished stable
conversions in the manor's courtyard. These are substantial
dwellings, not little cottages. They are homes.
|
|
The
grounds are very beautiful, very lush. There are flourishing
gardens and deep woods. There is a chapel in the courtyard with
stained glass windows rescued from a Catholic church in Boston and a
small, old building, perfect for writing, musing and romancing.
Cottage guests share access to an indoor pool. Sometimes the
owners' Connemara ponies are in residence.
