2 1 bedroom 1 bathroom Drive
for a few minutes away from the beautiful village of Oughterard along
Lough
Corrib and you’ll come to this beautiful property nestled in a clearing
in the woods. The cottage is adjacent to the owner’s house, but
very private, set in
pristine lawns overlooking the water. Newly built, the refined
design
blends Irish cottage style with the owner’s love of all things Italian.

You
walk across the lawn to the wide French entrance doors. Enter
directly
into the large square living/dining room with wood floors and white
walls.
The fireplace is on the far wall, flanked by shelves that hold books
and
objets d’art. Furniture is stylish, simple and comfortable: a
long
sofa and two easy chairs, a large coffee table, an armoire that hides
the
television, DVD player and music equipment. Behind the sofa, a
long
table and two chairs are perfect for meals. There are two large
closets
in this room; one has shelves for storing your clothes.

To the left of the sitting room, the small, compact kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped with all you need. Note: the owner is very tall so shelves are quite high. There is a sturdy step stool for those of us who are height challenged! The window has wood shutters. The
bathroom, also off the living room, also white, has a shower and
excellent
storage. This room, too, has a window with wood shutters.

The very large bedroom is off the other side of the living room. It has a king bed that can convert to twin beds, There are two chairs, a small table. Its simplicity is very calming. There are two large windows, one looking onto the lawn at the front of the cottage and one looking over the lawn to the lake. There
are two chairs and a table for you to use outdoors. You can
follow
the sun around the house! |
| There
is no washer or dryer in the cottage, but the owner invites you to use
her machines, if necessary. There is no phone in the cottage, but
mobile phones work well. This property is best suited to adults.
Oughterard Village has grocery stores, pubs and a few nice restaurants. There are beautiful walks and superb fishing. The village is a short and pretty drive from Galway City, to the south, and to Clifden, to the north. This is an excellent base for exploring Galway, Mayo and Clare. |
