This is a great place.  Before you think “theme park”, let us assure you it is not a theme park.  It’s an historically accurate, intelligently  conceived, beautifully-rendered recreation of a 19th century Irish village.  The cottages are connected by rambling lanes all leading to the village square.  It is comfortable, beautiful, guest centered, peaceful.  And it’s fun, great fun.

Located right on the eastern shore of Lough Derg, on the old stone quay which dates back to the early 1850s. The restored quay provides private, secluded moorings for up to 60 boats.

The village contains a dozen cottages, all new, but all individually designed in the style of the classic white Irish cottage, brightly-colored front doors and all.

The cottages all have warm Irish character.  Nothing cutesy - it's good, clean design with Irish roots. 

Each living room is comfortable and well-furnished with sisal carpets, well-made, informal pine furniture, primary colors, white walls.  Each has a traditional cast iron stove fireplace, TV, video and CD player.
 

The kitchens are cottage-style, modern and very attractive.  Ours was a kitchen-dining room with fitted cupboards, pine countertips, high-style dishes and kitchenware.  An adjacent utility room houses a washer and dryer.

All bedrooms are en suite.  A particularly nice touch is the bathroom light switch right next to the bed. 

The cottages are scattered around meandering lanes, all leading to the Village Square.  Most cottages have private gardens.  The on-site restaurant, overlooking Lough Derg, serves fine food and wines.  The Village Schoolhouse Conference and Banqueting Centre can be hired for family dinners, weddings or meetings.

The Village's private Aqua Spa, with counter-current pool, sauna, steam room, exercise room and treatment room, can be booked.

The Village is adjacent to Comminchas Forest Park, a beautiful, wild forest with two walking routes.  Portumna Forest Park, with walking routes spread over hundreds of acres, is ½ hour by car.  Bicycles may be hired locally.  Speedboats, cruisers and fishing boats are available for charter.  A gillie can be hired by the day.  Fishing lessons are available.  Horse riding is available.  Nenagh Golf Club is is ½ hour by car.  There are many authentic pubs and superb restaurants in the area.

Shannon Airport is 1 hour.  Dublin City is 2 hours.
