Even before you enter this
house you will be impressed by its
location. The views of Kinsale town, Kinsale Harbour, .James
Fort, the green hills and
the wide sky will knock your socks off. |

|
You cross a terrace and enter
into a nice, wide entrance hall that has
a beautiful table, a wood framed mirror and stairs up to the bedroom
area. The staircase
and banister are mahogany and the entire downstairs has American oak
flooring.
On the left, there is a study that has a large desk, a sofa, a
fireplace, a bookcase with interesting books and magazines. There
is WiFi, a printer, a TV and DVD player, an Ipod docking station and a
radio.
Views are of the harbour and the river.
The next room on the left is the drawing room. It has three sofas
with gold and black upholstery, an easy chair, a large upholstered
ottoman/coffee table, a large TV and a DVD
player. There are many mementos of the owners' travels. The
fireplace has a wood stove insert. Bookshelves
hold books and family photos. Three large windows have views of
the
harbour. A guest powder room is off the right side of the
hallway.
Straight
back is the enormous open-plan kitchen/dining/family room.
This is clearly the hub of the house.
The
large, custom-designed kitchen is to the right. It has a
black electric Aga stove, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator, beautiful
kitchen essentials and dishes. The center island has a sink and
large work area and a snack table and four chairs. A Bose radio
CD player keep the cook company. The adjacent laundry room
has a washer and dryer, a second refrigerator/freezer and lot of
storage space.
The sitting area has two comfortable black sofas, a coal
fireplace, a tall
coffee table. The large window has views are of the river and the
marina.
The
adjacent dining area has a table to seat 10 in front of a large
window that looks onto the water views. |

|
Between the dining table and the kitchen, French doors open to the back
terrace and
gardens. This is a gorgeous spot. Views are of the harbour
and Kinsale town, across the harbour. There is a BBQ and an
outdoor
dining table and casual sitting areas. The well kept garden, pond
and fountain
are charming. A few steps up, a second patio provides even
wider views of James Fort and Kinsale.

|
Back
inside, the five bedrooms are upstairs.
The very large master bedroom has a king bed with a white cover and a
floral fabric headboard. This beautiful room has
comfortable, traditional decor. There is an antique chest of
drawers, a low cherrywood chest and large closets, a TV. Enjoy
harbour views
from two of the three large windows.
The large en suite bathroom has a long, deep tub with a hand-held
shower and twin sinks. There is lots of storage here and in the
adjacent walk-in wardrobe.
|

|
The next bedroom has a king bed that can convert to twin
beds. The tall headboard is covered with luscious deep purple
fabric which beautifully complements the purple carpet and
accessories. There is a white wardrobe and matching chests of
drawers. Two windows offer fabulous views of the river, Kinsale
town and the green hills beyond the town.
The third bedroom has a king bed that can convert to twin beds covered
with a white cotton comforter. The headboard is covered in rich
green and beige fabric. The chest of drawers and the built-in
wardrobe are painted the same white as the walls. The window offers a
fabulous view of the river.
The very large blue tiled hallway bathroom has a long, deep tub with a
hand-held shower and a separate large shower stall.

|
The
fourth bedroom has a wider-than-usual single bed covered in
green-yellow velour. The tall headboard is covered in the same
fabric. There is a pine chest of drawers, a pine armoire and views of
the countryside. This is a very peaceful room.
The hallway bathroom (loo) has a toilet and a sink.
|

|
This might be our favorite bedroom. It has a queen bed with a
blue cover. Walls are blue as well. The antique pine
cupboard and the built-in closet provide good storage. There is a
comfortable wing chair, but the best thing is the astonishing view
through the wall-to-wall windows. It was difficult to leave here.
Another bathroom has a shower stall and views of the ocean.
This
house is available all weeks except July and August and Christmas and
New Year week as the owners use it then.
The house has parking for 4 cars. Cooking
can be arranged with a talented local chef, from fabulous
dinners and her famous seafood platter to canapιs, wines and light
bites. Baby-sitting can be arranged.
