Walk through a
little front garden and open the door to a
vestibule and then through a glass door into the front hall. The
drawing room is on the right of the hall. It is furnished with
two comfortable sofas covered in white cotton, two easy chairs covered
in yellow fabric,
a decorative fireplace, a large bay window that looks onto the front
garden. This is all excellent, but what really caught our
interest were the many framed antique prints that cover all of the
walls. We wanted to stay for hours examining those beautiful
prints. The back part of the drawing room has a baby grand piano, another decorative fireplace, a chest of drawers and several chairs. And more of those interesting prints. A French door opens to a small, private patio. |

| Return to the
front hall and go down to a half-landing where there is a small
book-lined study with a large, modern desk. A window looks
to the back garden. More framed prints hang on the walls. Go on down the stairs to the kitchen and dining room – where these rooms always were in the old houses. What a surprise! The enormous dining room, at the front of the house, is furnished in rich contemporary style. The long table seats 8 on red velvet chairs. A book-filled bookcse is on either site of a gas heating stove. A beautiful rug covers a tile floor. This extraordinary room is beautiful, colorful and bright. Prints and original art cover the walls. Large bay windows and a French door open to a plant-filled staircase that goes up to the front garden. |

A roof terrace,
up another level, has a table and chairs and wonderful
views over London. It's like something from a movie. (Our
photograph didn't capture the view so the owners gave us this photo
which they took on a snowy day last winter. It's quite a contrast
with the springtime photo that we took of the front of the house!)
This superb house is on a beautiful street that is conveniently located for the many shops, restaurants and attractions of Kensington High Street and Holland Park. |
