KNIGHTSBRIDGE
Knightsbridge
was once part of a large forest of which only 600 acres remain: Hyde
Park
and Kensington Gardens are among London's greatest jewels. One of
London's most superior areas, Knightsbridge
is a mix of red brick
gabled
mansion blocks, early Victorian terraces and mews houses that cluster
around
some of the world's most famous shopping, including Harrods and Harvey
Nichols. Brompton Road and Sloane Street are a shopper's paradise
with Versace, Gucci, Escada and many more. The Brompton Oratory,
Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History
Museum and
the Science Museum are here. Convenient to The West End, The
Theater
District, Kensington, it's a walk across Kensington Gardens to Notting

BELGRAVIA
Belgravia
is a very grand residential area bordered by Westminster, Chelsea,
Pimlico
and Knightsbridge. With its beautiful Georgian buildings and
green
squares, it is home to diplomats, celebrities and other public
figures.
Buckingham Palace, Parliament and Westminster Hall are nearby as are
Hyde
Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St. James' Park. Tubes:
Victoria Station, Sloane Square, Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner.

CHELSEA
Chelsea
is a symbol for artistic and individual living. It's a fabulous
location
encompassed by The King's Road, Chelsea Bridge Road, the Chelsea
Embankment
(on the River Thames) and Beaufort Street. Visit St. Luke's
Gardens,
the local shops at Chelsea Green and the Chelsea Farmers' Market.
Thomas
Carlyle's house, a National Trust property, is here, as is the Chelsea
Physic Garden. Minutes from Sloane Square, Knightsbridge and
South
Kensington, Chelsea is close to Hyde Park, the Victoria and Albert,
Natural
History and the Science Museums. There's easy access to the West
End and the City by tube and bus. Tubes: South Kensington and
Sloane
Square.

& THE WEST END
Mayfair’s
name comes from the May Fair that has occurred every year since the 7th
Century. It is bordered by Hyde Park, St James's Park and Green
Park.
Regents Street and Oxford Street are nearby. It offers galleries,
boutiques and restaurants. The Royal Academy is here.
Covent
Garden, Piccadilly Circus and the West End are all a gentle
stroll.
Transport is excellent to the City, Knightsbridge and
Kensington.

The
West End is a sophisticated and busy area with many amenities. It
includes parts of Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Bond Street, Marylebone
High
Street, St. Christopher’s Place, Grosvenor Square, Portman
Square.
There is excellent shopping, sight-seeing and walking. Tubes:

KENSINGTON
South
Kensington is a fashionable area with world-class restaurants and
shopping
in a village atmosphere. The Royal Albert Museum, Natural History
Museum,Royal Colleges of Music and Art, Albert Memorial and Albert Hall
are here. Hyde Park, Kensington Palace and Gardens are
north.
It's a short stroll to Chelsea. There is easy access to all of
London
and a tube directly to Heathrow. Tubes: South Kensington,
Gloucester
Road.

Kensington,
a smart residential area, deserves its "Royal Borough" title.
Kensington
Palace, Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, which border the area, are
open
to everyone. Once a country village, then a suburb, the area is
now
part of central London. Kensington High Street offers a vast
selection
of designer shops, antique shops and boutiques. Church Walk,
leading
to Church Street, is lined with antique shops. The quaint streets
and mews behind the High Street have beautiful architecture and small,
interesting shops. There is excellent transport to the
City,
West End and Knightsbridge. Tubes: High Street Kensington,
Olympia,
Notting Hill Gate and Holland Park.

EARL'S
COURT & FULHAM
Earl's
Court, just west of South Kensington, is a lively area with many quiet
residential squares. There are shops and pubs, a large super
market,
a good street atmosphere. The area is central and
convenient.
Kensington High Street is a 10-minute walk, the King's Road and
Knightsbridge
are a 15-20 minute walk or a short tube ride. Tube: Earl's
Court.
Fulham
is a quiet residential area with lovely parks along the bank of the
Thames.
There are shops and pubs, but the bright lights of central London are
about
a 15 minute tube ride. The bus runs up King's Road through
Chelsea to Knightsbridge. Tube: Putney Bridge.

NOTTING
HILL
Notting
Hill is
a trendy area, made famous by the recent movie of that name. It
deserves
its reputation as an exciting, vibrant, glamorous part of London, alive
with markets, pubs, boutiques, delis, bookshops and organic
supermarkets.
Notting Hill is adjacent to the famous Portobello Road Saturday market,
established in the 1860's, with block after block of antiques,
clothes
and art. On weekdays, stall holders sell fresh fruits and
vegetables.
Notting Hill and Westbourne Grove offer many restaurants, cafes, pubs,
shopping and sight-seeing. The area is easy walking distance to
Kensington
Gardens and Kensington Park Road, known for its cafes, restaurants,
shopping.

COVENT
GARDEN
Covent
Garden is a young, exciting area with the opera, theatre and the Covent
Garden marketplace - dating from medieval times. The Piazza,
built
in the 17th century, is the center of Covent Garden. Now a crafts
and antiques market, its atmosphere is enhanced by buskers and opera
singers
who stroll along the Piazza entertaining all. St. Paul’s Church,
The Theatre Museum , London Transport Museum, Royal Opera House, The
Theatre
Royal and many shops are in the immediate area. Drury Lane is in
the theater district. It’s an easy stroll to Soho, the West
End. The City is a 10-minute tube. Tube: Covent

RICHMOND
Richmond
is a very upscale neighborhood South of Kew Gardens and surrounding
Richmond
Green, one of the finest Georgian squares in London. It was
once a jousting ground where knights fought in single combat. Now
it hosts cricket matches throughout the summer. Richmond is the
home
of Henry VII’s Royal Palace on the River Thames, the house of George
III's
consort and her Maids of Honour and the place where Elizabeth I died in
1603. Today, Richmond remains the favorite retreat for the elite
of London. It's theatres host many of London theatre's pre West
End
runs. There are fine museums and galleries, pubs, cafés,
cinemas
and shops.

PIMLICO
Pimlico
is popular with politicians because of its proximity to the Houses of
Parliament
and Westminster. At last count, 25 MP's have houses in Cambridge
Street. Pimlico offers the pretty Pimlico Green and Elizabeth
Street
cafes, galleries and antique shops, restaurants. It is a short
walk
to Victoria with its excellent mainline, bus and tube
connections.
Transport connections to the rest of London and beyond are excellent as
Pimlico tube, Victoria Mainline Railway and Coach Station are
walking
distance. Nearest Tubes: Pimlico and Victoria Station.

HOLLAND
PARK
Holland
Park, just
west of Notting Hill and north of Kensington, is a smart residential
part
of London. It's is a lovely green space with a Japanese garden, a
fabulous restaurant with great views, several children's play areas and
an open air opera in the summer. Kensington Palace Gardens, which
changes to Palace Green, is a pedestrian walk lined with fine mansions,
many of which are embassies. A walk through the park leads to
Kensington
High Street. Holland Park Avenue has fine restaurants and
shops,
including the best known butcher in London, Lidgate's. Tubes:
Holland
Park and Shepherd's Bush.
