Wetton, an unspoiled village hidden deep in the Derbyshire Dales close to Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, is a beautiful village in a gorgeous area. The village struck us looking French - the houses are all grey stone and the curved lanes create little enclaves.
These adjacent cottages are literally at the starting point of a walking trail into the Peak National Park. The Royal Oak, a good eating pub, is only 100 yards from the property.
This semi-attached property, next door to the town church, has two cottages for rent, Ivy Cottage and The Reading Room. Each can be rented separately or they can be rented together. There is a connecting passage on the ground floor between the two cottages, with a lockable privacy door.
| Ivy House Accommodates 6 - 7 3 bedrooms, a king, a double with extra single bed, a twin 2 bathrooms While
this house has a more formal front entrance, true to village life, most
enter through the side door, directly into the kitchen. The
kitchen
has a dishwasher, washer, freezer, electric hop and oven and a utility
room.

The
burgundy-walled dining room is the heart of the house. It has
exposed
beams, an inglenook fireplace with a wood stove insert. The
antique
mahogany table can seat 10 - 12.

Across
the hall, the comfortable sitting room has exposed beams, a wood stove,
video, radio/cassette/CD. This is not a high-style room, but it
is
spacious and very attractive and traditional.

If
entering from the Ivy House, one goes directly into the kitchen.
If entering from outside, there is a small reception hall that leads to
the sitting room. The sitting room is terrific. It has
exposed
beams, fireplace, a leather Chesterfield sofa, a coral-colored sofa, a
large coral and gold ottoman that can double as a coffee table.
There
is a video and CD player. It has golden walls, antiques, light
coming
in through large windows that overlook the village. |
